2024 Crochet Cancer Challenge

I’m participating in the Crochet Cancer Challenge hosted by Sweet Potato 3 again this year.

So many of us have had cancer touch our lives in one way or another.

The Crochet Cancer Challenge helps us all bring awareness to the ones we hold closest to our hearts.

This year I decided to do my design in a light blue for prostate cancer. A man who holds a special place in my heart has been putting in a tough fight since being diagnosed. Between all the appointments with the many specialists and putting their heads together to attack his aggressive case we’ve all been stressed.

As I was designing the hat I had him in mind the entire time. I thought of all of his favorite activities and just knew that he would love this beanie.

One of the many things this man loves to do is go hiking. There are so many pictures of him hiking the many trails here in Western Massachusetts. He’s a man who is truly connected to nature and his hikes bring him so much peace to his life.

I pictured him taking those hikes down the winding paths in the mountains that are covered in so many acorns; so the Acorn Path Beanie is for him.

The Yarn

For the Acorn Path Beanie I used Big Twist Value in the colorway Sky Blue. My eyes gravitated to this color while browsing the yarn aisles and knew that it would be perfect for this design.
