The yarn I used to make the Twisted Mobius Cowl was I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby because I grabbed yarn from my stash. You can use any of your favorite worsted weight yarns to make one for yourself.

Gauge and Finished Size

Gauge: 6 rows x 13 Sts = 4” of Dc

Finished Size: 18” Wide x 11” Tall

Stitches Used

  • Ch – Chain
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Sdc – Starting Double Crochet
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • St(s) – Stitch(es)

Stitch Definition:

Starting Double Crochet – (also known as Long Chain Double Crochet or Chainless Starting Double Crochet.)  Pull up your loop to the height of your usual Double Crochet. YO, insert into the 1st St, yarn over, pull through the St, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through the remaining 2 loops.

Written in American crochet terms.

The Sdc can be substituted with a Ch 3.

I advise using stitch markers to mark the 1st St of each row.

The Yarn

The yarn that I originally used was Brava Sport from We Crochet but you can use any comparable sport weight/baby weight yarn.

Supplies Needed

Approximately 90-100 yards Brava Sport or comparable #3 weight yarn
Measuring Tape
I/5.5mm Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors

  • Ch – Chain
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • RS – Right Side
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Sk – Skip
  • Tr – Treble Crochet
  • WS – Wrong Side

Pattern Notes

Written in US crochet terms.

It’s easier to sew the closure if you’ve already woven in your beginning tail.

A picture tutorial has been included for the closure.

Before the closure, the item might have a slight slant.  This is unnoticeable in the finished item.

The Pattern

Ch 17

Row 1.) Hdc in 2nd Ch from the hook and each Ch across. (16) RS

Row 2.) Turn, Ch 1, Hdc in 1st St, *Sk 1, (Tr, Sc) in next St* repeat across until last St, Hdc in last St. (16) WS

Row 3.) Turn, Ch 1, Hdc in 1st St and across. (16)

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until approximately 20” ending with a row 3. Move on to closure.

Closure:

With WS facing, fold in half to form a V (pearls will be on the inside).  Interlock the V’s within each other and with a 10” tail sew ends together as shown below.  [Different colors used to show more detail]

Finish off and weave in ends.

  • Tr – Treble Crochet

Pattern Notes

Finished Size is approximately 3.5″ across through the middle of the scrubby.

Worked in the round.

Worked in 2 pieces and then sewn together.

Leave a long tail to help when connecting the two pieces of the face scrubbies.

The Pattern

Round 1.) 10 Sc in MC, connect to 1st Sc with Sl St. (10) RS

Round 2.) Turn, Ch 1, (Sc, Tr) in 1st St and each St around. Join with Sl St to 1st St. (20) WS

Round 3.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St, 2Sc in next St, *Sc in next St, 2Sc in next St, * repeat around. Join with Sl St to 1st St. (30) RS

Round 4.) Turn, Ch 1, (Sc, Tr) in 1st St, Sk next St, (Sc, Tr) in next St, *(Sc, Tr) in next St, Sk next St, (Sc, Tr) in next St, * repeat around. Join with a Sl St to 1st St. (40) WS

Round 5.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st 3 Sts, 2Sc in next St, *Sc in next 3 Sts, 2Sc in next St, * repeat around. Join with Sl St to 1st St. (50) RS

Finish off, leave a 10” long tail on 2nd scrubby.  Weave in the ends of the 1st scrubby and start of the 2nd scrubby. 

With RS facing out, mattress stitch both face scrubbies together using the long tail left from 2nd scrubby.

Jovial Washcloth

I’m always a sucker for a good washcloth. I designed the Jovial Washcloth to have a subtle texture that will help exfoliate while bathing.

The Jovial Washcloth will make a great addition to a gift basket with locally made cold-processed soaps too.
