Do you ever purchase yarn and then hoard it until the perfect ideas or project comes along? That’s what happened with the Magnolia Top. I purchased the yarn back in early 2020, if not late 2019.
When planning out my Summer 2021 designs I remembered that I had this yarn stashed away and it would be perfect for the idea I had. The colors of the yarn reminded me of Magnolia trees in the spring.

The Yarn
The yarn I used is Comfy Color Mist by Knitpicks/WeCrochet. I used the colorways Raspberry Cream (magenta), Dahlia (pink), Chive Blossom (purple), and Foggy Beach (grey). The yarn is a worsted weight and is a 75% pima cotton/25% acrylic blend.
This was the first time I used this yarn and I would definitely work with it again. It is super soft and easy to work with, I have no complaints at all about it.
Supplies
The supplies you’ll need include:
– 700 – 1200 yards Comfy Color Mist from Knitpicks/WeCrochet or comparable yarn
– I/5.50mm crochet hook
– Yarn needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape
– Stitch markers
Stitches and Abbreviations
The stitches I used for the Magnolia Top are:
Ch – Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
Hdc – Half Double Crochet
RS – Right side
SDc – Starting Double Crochet
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Sk – Skip
Sp(s) – Space(s)
St(s) – Stitch(es)
WS – Wrong side
Stitch Definition:
Starting Double Crochet – (also known as Long Chain Double
Crochet or Chainless Starting Double Crochet.) Pull up your loop to the height of your usual Double Crochet. Yarn over, insert into the 1st St, yarn over, pull through the Stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.

Pattern Notes:
XS – 30” bust; S – 34”; M – 38”; L – 42”; XL – 46”; 2X – 50”; 3X – 54”; 4X – 58”.
Pattern is written in American Crochet Terms.
1” of positive ease for final measurement.
Ch 3 can be substituted for SDc.
Construction consists of: working the body in turned rounds from the bottom up & two panels for the upper body to form armholes.
Sizes – Pattern is worked in size XS
with additional sizes in parentheses. I advise starting a
new skein/ball to do the back panel, just in case you need to add
to the front panel for a proper fit.

XS – 30” – 700;
S – 34” – 750;
M – 38” – 800;
L – 42” – 850;
XL – 46” – 900;
2X – 50” – 950;
3X – 54” – 1000;
4X – 58” – 1100.
