Like in all the patterns in the Rays Of Sunshine Collection, I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran. I really enjoyed working with this yarn and you can get it for an awesome price.

Supplies Needed

Gauge & Finished Size

Gauge: 14 Sts x 12 rows =4” of Hdc

Size: approx. 4” x 4”

Stitches Used

  • Ch – Chain
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Dc2Tog* – Double Crochet 2 Together
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Sdc – Starting Double Crochet
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sp – Space
  • St(s) – Stitch(es)

Stitch Definitions:

Dc2Tog* – Double Crochet 2 Together – YO, insert hook into same St as previous St, YO and pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2, Sk next St, YO, insert hook into next St, YO and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), YO, pull through 2 (3 loops on hook), YO, pull through 3.

Sdc – Starting Double Crochet – (also known as Long Chain Double Crochet or Chainless Starting Double Crochet.) Pull up your loop to the height of your usual Double Crochet. YO, insert into the 1st St, YO, pull through the St, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through the remaining 2 loops.

Pattern Notes

Written in U.S. crochet terms.

A stitch count is provided at the end of each row.

The Sdc can be substituted with a Ch 3.

Pay attention to how the Dc2Tog is worked.

Row 1.) Hdc in 2nd Ch from hook and each Ch across. (16)

Row 2.) Turn, Sdc in 1st St, [Dc2Tog*, Ch 1] 7 times, Dc in last St. (16)

Rows 3- 9) Turn, Ch 1, Hdc in 1st St and each St across. (16)

Row 10) Turn, Sdc in 1st St, [Dc2Tog*, Ch 1] 7 times, Dc in last St. (16)

Row 11) Turn, Ch 1, Hdc in 1st St and each St across. (16)

Finish off and weave in ends.
