You’re going to love the Winter Hills Mug Rug (or coaster). It’s a quick and easy pattern that can be made in almost no time at all.

The Yarn

I used Sugar ‘n Cream 100% cotton yarn. The one I featured on this Instagram Reel (link below) is in the colorway “Holiday Stripes.” I separated the skein into all its colors to get them to line up the way I wanted.

Supplies Needed

– Approximately 50 – 100 yards worsted weight yarn – Sugar ‘n Cream
– H/5.0mm crochet hook – Leither Co.
– Scissors
– Tape measure
– Yarn needle

Stitches Used

The stitches I used in this designer are:
Ch – Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
Sc – Single Crochet

Pattern Note

Gauge: 15 Sts x 15 Rows =4”

Sizes:
4.5” x 4.5” – Coaster
4.5” x 8” – Mug Rug

A stitch count is provided at the end of each row.

Fringe is optional. I placed mine (when used) every other stitch. Some designers like to put them in each stitch. Go with what you’re comfortable with.

The Pattern

Ch 17

Row 1.) Sc in 2nd Ch from the hook and each St across. (16)

Row 2.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St, Dc in next St, *Sc in next St, Dc in next St, * repeat across. (16)

Row 3.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St, Dc in next St, *Sc in next St, Dc in next St, * repeat across. (16)

Row 4.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St and each St across. (16)

Row 5.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St and each St across. (16)

Row 6.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St, Dc in next St, *Sc in next St, Dc in next St, * repeat across. (16)

Row 7.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St, Dc in next St, *Sc in next St, Dc in next St, * repeat across. (16)

Row 8.) Turn, Ch 1, Sc in 1st St and each St across. (16)

Rows 9-16 (28) Repeat rows 5-8.

Finish off and weave in ends.
